Abstract. In cucumber, tomato and pepper cultivars pre-sowing laser biostimulation was used. Sowing value and early phases were estimated. Meaningful reaction was observed in cucumber cultivar.

The improvement of seeds of selected vegetable species through laser radiation

Summary

Seeds of four cucumber cultivars: ‘Delicius’, ‘Hela F1’, ‘Krak F1’, ‘Racibor F1’, four pepper cultivars: ‘Iga’, ‘Mira’, ‘Ożarowska’, ‘Sono’ and three tomato cultivars: ‘Paw’, ‘Promyk’ and ‘Zorza’ exposed pre-sowing laser biostimulation (with three differented doses) of laser radiation. In laboratory conditions germination energy and capacity were estimated and roots, and seedlings length was measured. Laser light stimulated both germination energy and roots length in pepper cultivars and seedling length in tomato. Most positive reaction for laser light in cucumber cultivars was measured, where pre-sowing laser biostimulation may be an element increasing the sowing value and activation of seedlings development.
